PAUL’S FAVOURITE • Paul Hillage has been a big fan of Massey Ferguson tractors for many years and he owns a fine MF 2685 example, which lives with him in Shropshire. He is a self-employed mechanic by trade and has lived in the area all his life. Bob Weir went along to meet him.
DIESEL DEVELOPMENTS • A workshop down in deepest Cornwall was the birthplace of the patented technology that enabled The Standard Motor Company to bring to market the Ferguson TE-F 20, the first Ferguson tractor to be equipped with a factory fitted diesel engine, says Jane Brooks.
JONATHAN WHITLAM • Launched in its native North America in 1975, it was not long before Massey Ferguson’s big articulated four-wheel drive tractor was offered to British farmers. The 1505 was launched at that year’s Royal Smithfield Show where it caused something of a stir, which was not surprising given its huge size compared with what farmers on this side of ‘The Pond’ were used to.
BIG BEAUVAIS BEAUTIES – THE MF 2000 SERIES • Jonathan Whitlam looks at the Massey Ferguson 2000 Series which was a bit of a hit and miss tractor for the company, but in preservation times they are being appreciated more and more
KEEPING THEM ORIGINAL • In this issue our ‘Tractor Lad’ Ben Phillips starts to get to grips with the Massey Ferguson 35 original, which he is just going to tidy up, as only he can.
SETTING THE SPILL TIMING ON YOUR TE-20 DIESEL ENGINE • In this issue Richard Lofting looks at setting the spill timing on a Ferguson TE-F diesel engine, something that is not easy to accomplish on this difficult to work on tractor. However, Richard shows you how it can be achieved, which is essential for the ease in starting one of these tractors.
